“The whites of their eyes”. We’ve all heard the saying before. Although it wasn’t coined on that day, for most people it brings thoughts of the Battle of Bunker Hill. Located in Charlestown, Massachusetts, and memorialized by a powerful pillar of granite, the battle was to be a sobering moment for both the British and Americans. Those infamous “whites” weren’t just about distance, they were about pain, suffering, surprise, and even fear. The colonists huddled behind a fence as four rows, of several hundred British regulars each, lined up to attack.
